“…that’s the power of music.”
These are the only photos I took tonight, but I was honored to attend MUSIC HEALS LIVE!, an event benefiting Musicians On Call (MOC).
For more than 25 years, MOC volunteers have brought live and recorded music to patients, families, and caregivers in healthcare facilities across the country. Having already reached more than one million people, the organization continues its mission to expand the healing power of music to even more individuals in need.
Tonight’s inaugural Music Heals Live! event at highlighted the incredible impact music can have during some of life’s most difficult moments. The evening brought together artists, industry leaders, and supporters to celebrate the volunteers and advocates helping make that mission possible.
My friend Reba McEntire was honored with the Music Heals Golden Ukulele Award in recognition of her continued support of Musicians On Call. Through fundraising efforts, virtual programs, and personal involvement, she has helped bring comfort, encouragement, and moments of joy to patients and healthcare workers alike.
Vince Gill, one of Reba’s friends of over 40 years, performed some of his famous hits and Wynonna Judd appeared in place of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood who were under the weather.
Adding to the surprise of the night, Melissa Peterman, Reba’s longtime co-star from both Reba and Happy’s Place appeared as host for the evening.
During her acceptance speech, Reba spoke about the impact music has on people’s lives and how visiting patients in hospitals changed her life in more ways than she ever expected.
“It gives hope when everything feels hopeless. THAT’s the power of music.” — Reba
Agreed.
